Hawk Ridge Golf Club boasts one of the finest practice facilities in the area. Our practice facility consists of over 15 thousand square feet of hitting surface and is in excess of 350 yards long. The tight, rye grass conditions are ideal for working on all aspects of your game.

PGA of Canada Class A Member Director of Instruction
Terry Smith has an extensive golf background in the Orillia area having started playing at the age of 4 and winning an Ontario individual Championship at age 13, one of only 5 Orillia residents to make claim in the last 60 years. Terry is part of a large golfing family that has called Orillia home since the late 1940’s. Terry has been at Hawk Ridge G&CC since the 2015 season.
Terry has been a PGA of Canada Member since 1992 and has taught and coached hundreds of golfers over that time, including a U.S. Amateur qualifier and many Collegiate players in both Canada & the U.S. Terry was the Head Coach of the Orillia Lakehead University Thunderwolves Varsity golf program from 2017 until it was canceled in 2023.
Terry lists short game skills and course management as keys to better golf & lower scores. He is very adaptable to the unique styles that different players have.
Terry is also known in the Orillia community for his involvement as a volunteer in youth organizations, Big Brothers Big Sisters & Scouts Canada to mention a couple. Terry is a Life Member of the Orillia Minor Hockey Association, he was awarded this distinction in 2014 and has sat on the executive board as the Director of Officials.
